I have found my next project, my lovely followers: a lovely ‘command center’ for my kitchen. I will probably start it Sunday as I am busy for the next couple of days. I will keep you all updated!

Bought the most divine little napkin holder yesterday and it was only $2. I spotted it and I felt like I recognized it or it reminded me of something I had seen previously..Then it hit me! It reminded me of a decoration that Gaby from Desperate Housewives had on her table for Thanksgiving in season 7.

This is a picture of my kitchen. I have posted it before, but I figured you should see it again since I’m considering painting my cabinets. I was thinking about painting them a nice sage-ish green. I’m not sure how it would look though and I don’t want to come to regret my decision in the color. I want it to have a country home feel, maybe I’ll get some red gingham seat pads for the chairs. Not sure. What do you all think?

Painting cabinets in a yellow kitchen..

So, I’m thinking about painting my kitchen cabinets. The walls are a bright, pale yellow but I’m tired of white cabinets. They get dirty way too easily and it’s more noticeable when they do. My question is: what color do you paint cabinets in a yellow kitchen? I was thinking a subtle, country-ish green, but I’m not sure that I would love. Opinions?

I need advice!

So recently (within the past month or so), lizards have taken over my laundry room. I don’t know how and I don’t know why they’ve decided to now after we have lived here for nearly two years, but it’s becoming a problem.

I’m not exactly the bravest woman out there. I hate creepy crawly creatures, specifically ones that move faster than my brain is able to comprehend what I’m seeing.

Things came to a head tonight when I was doing laundry. I had just finished the first load and was pulling items out of the washer and putting them in the dryer. I got about halfway done and I was able to see the bottom of the washing machine and I saw a small shadow, thought it may have been a piece of fabric or lint. I looked closer and it was a lizard. -.-

I freaked out and felt like I was having a panic attack - yeah, I don’t deal with these things well. My husband is working so I called the next closest person - my dear friend, Charles. He came over to help and when picking through the remaining clothes in my washing machine, he found another lizard, this one alive.

I don’t know what to do and I am at my wit’s end - even considering washing my clothes at someone else’s house.

Solutions/advice?

Deep Clean Update.

These past two nights have been absolutely exhausting, but over-all productive!

As you can see, I’m making decent progress on the list of the things I had/have to do.

Right now, the living room is in a bit of disarray. I re-organized my book cases and eliminated things that go in the trash, newer magazines I can put in the bathroom, and things that will have to stay in the spare room for now. I’m waiting until I wipe down everything AGAIN before I vacuum, otherwise it would be pointless. The welcome mat is in the dryer right now. I managed to remove the blinds from the windows and lay them on the floor and clean them. I’ve also put away any spring/summer decor and replaced it with my new fall decor.

As far as the kitchen goes, there is still a lot of work to be done in there. I got all the dishes washed (no dishwasher, so that was exhausting). I managed to reorganize my cabinets for food & dog items. I also cleaned off the coffee bar and put all the clean mugs on it. I cleaned our stainless steel refrigerator using a tip I found on Pinterest that involves spraying it down with furniture polish and letting it sit for a moment or two. It looks awesome now! I cleaned off the top too and dusted. There was so much unnecessary crap up there and now it looks wonderful. Get this: while cleaning out my cupboards, I found SIX boxes of oatmeal that were all almost completely full. Talk about hoarding! The kitchen has always been my most daunting task. It involves a lot of waiting. Like right now, I have to wait for the dishes I just washed to dry before I can clean the drying racks and before I can bleach the counter they’re on. I put out some fall decor in there too. Fortunately, the microwave wasn’t in such a bad state and it was easy to clean. Today, while at Family Dollar, I was tempted to purchase an over-the-sink shelf. I think it would be useful, but I’m going to wait until tomorrow or Friday to buy it.

While I wait to finish the kitchen, I think I’m going to start on the bathroom. That’s probably the easiest room to tackle, aside from the living room.
